BRONWYN TANNER: Tuning In – Little cancer warriors benefit from donation

Community news and events for the mid-South Coast area.

Tidy Towns Pennington thanks the drivers who volunteered their time to drive the cyclists cars from the start of the Sani2C in Underberg, back to Scottburgh.

Twenty six cars were moved over two days and they received a small amount for each car. Thanks to Martin Hanlon for co-ordinating this fundraising project.

Michelle Ursula Naidoo, an ambassador of Cupcakes of Hope, thanks Checkers and their team for their support. Naidoo recently received a donation and was able to get toiletries for the winter care bags project for little warriors with cancer.

According to Nicky Koekemoer of 4 Paws and a Tale Rescue, for the past few years, Mariaan van Staden from Stericats, a registered NPO working with 4 Paws, has been trapping feral cats in Scottburgh and as far as Isipingo, sterilising and releasing again in an effort to curb the unwanted births. This is done at great expense often with Mariaan paying costs from her own pocket. It was established that there is now a cat killer in our midst who comes in late at night in a white van and lets out three large dogs to hunt as far as the beach and Scott Street. They are then picked up again later. The person has been seen and the registration of the vehicle is known. To the public – please keep your cats inside at night until this is resolved. Any information on this matter would be appreciated. Contact 084 6265508 if you are able to assist.

Osisibethemba (Sisters of Hope) works with the rape crisis centre at GJ Crookes Hospital in Scottburgh by blessing the less fortunate with clothes, toys, blankets, sweets and snacks, hygiene products (general toiletries, toothbrushes, soaps, feminine hygiene products) and more.
They gather on the first Thursday of every month at Relton Hall, Pennington. Donations are welcome. Contact 076 2974457 or 083 3108479.

Charles van Niekerk and Casper van Antwerpen were photographed at Astron in Widenham on their journey to Lesotho from Pretoria. They are simply nice guys with nice bikes and are wished a safe journey.
