Ward 10 councillor Alan Cutten has reminded residents that all service delivery issues are to be reported directly to the relevant municipal department or service provider.
Logging a complaint ensures that the issue is officially recorded and that the responsible department is accountable for responding.
As ward councillor, he explained that one of his responsibilities is to monitor service delivery, follow up on outstanding complaints, and escalate matters where necessary.
However, councillors also have many other duties, including attending meetings, conducting site inspections, engaging with municipal officials, and representing residents on a wide range of matters.
This means he is not always able to respond to calls or messages immediately.
He said that for this reason, residents should not wait for him to report faults on their behalf.
Report the issue directly to the relevant department as soon as possible and obtain a reference number so that, if necessary, he can escalate the matter with the relevant department and monitor its progress.
Without a reference number, it is often difficult to trace, monitor, or escalate complaints effectively.

Entry is R50 for adults, R30 for children, and R20 for pensioners. The walk will start at 10:00 after a fun warm-up with Just Move. There will be a market with local goods and live music all day. Let your light shine for the fighters, the survivors, and the angels. Wear white, bring hope, leave a mark.

• Pennipainters is a ladies’ art group. They meet at Relton Hall every Wednesday at 10:00 to paint, exchange ideas and drink coffee. If you’re an enthusiastic artist pop in and paint any Wednesday. Suggested items: soap, toothpaste, toothbrush, deodorant, face cloth, socks, biscuits, sweets. No chocolates – these will melt.
