IFP: ANC has run country into bankruptcy

The Gala dinner formed part of a series of engagements the IFP president embarked on, on the South Coast last week.

There is nothing as painful as being led by a government that has no ethics and no morals.

This was a sentiment shared by Inkatha Freedom Party president Velenkosini Hlabisa while speaking to the business fraternity and various community stakeholders during a gala dinner at the Port Shepstone Civic Centre on Wednesday last week.

Hlabisa told attendees that South Africa was a rich country before the African National Congress (ANC) took over.

He added that the country is now one of the poorest countries in the world.

He said for South Africa to survive today, it has to borrow money on a daily basis.

“The ANC has run the country into bankruptcy because of corruption, careless attitudes, and the ‘as long as we eat, we don’t mind what people get’ attitude. There is nothing that is painful as being led by a government that has no ethics, a government that has no morals, a government that does not care about the people it governs,” said Hlabisa.

He added that women and children are being raped and killed daily and nothing happens, saying that such does not happen where there is a government that cares. “This is not an unfair criticism, you can’t have a government that spends money educating the youth but allows the same youth to sit at home after graduating,” said Hlabisa.

On Thursday, the Inkatha Freedom Party along with Gift of the Givers handed over two new, fully furnished houses to the Dlamini and Zulu families.

The two families were left homeless following the devastating April floods in Ward 18, Esihlonyaneni area in Mthwalume.

The party with the Gift of the Givers also went to Ward 20 to hand over 120 food parcels to residents before going to the Lamontville Hall in KwaMadlala for a community engagement session.
