Max Mbili bows out of RNM
Max Mbili said he knew when he joined the organisation that one day he will leave.
All eyes are on the appointment of a new municipal manager at Ray Nkonyeni Municipality (RNM).
This comes after Max Mbili’s contract as municipal manager ended yesterday, Wednesday (August 31).
Mbili, who is affectionately known as ‘MM’ not only because of his position at the municipality but also because of his name and surname; joined the municipality in March 2012.
He said he knew when he joined the organisation that he will leave one day.
Mbili said there is nothing wrong with leaving, saying that it is important to leave an organisation better than it was before joining it.
“Words will be an insufficient expression of my heartfelt and deepest appreciation for this rare opportunity given to me over more than 10 years as head of a department and municipal manager to serve the people of my home soil. I started to serve this town as a garden boy when I was a school-going boy and served it as a municipal manager as a homemade organic professional. It is worth mentioning some people and structures for their undying and unwavering support during the period under review. I attribute all achievements to them as I only made my contribution as part of the collective,” said Mbili.
He added that the Democratic Alliance councillor Douglas Rawlins and Inkatha Freedom Party councillor Sifundo Ngwane made their caucuses to understand that the common objective of the municipality is to empower the people of the South Coast.
“Stakeholders of the municipality such as the South Coast Ratepayers’Association always gave the municipality honest feedback and contributed immensely through partnerships with the municipality. The Port Shepstone Business Forum contributed meaningfully toward the development of the town. The partnerships they forged with the municipality changed the outlook of the town. Ugu Business of Association contributed meaningfully toward the development of SMMEs in our town. Margate Business Association contributed meaningfully toward the development of the town. The partnerships they forged with the municipality changed the outlook of the town. The South Coast Chamber of Commerce and Industry for developing the economy of the region and DBSA for supporting the municipality through various grants given to the municipality. The municipality is no longer the same because of this immeasurable contribution,” said Mbili.
He added that he is pleased to be leaving the municipality without regretting any decisions he took during his tenure, saying that all the decisions he made were in line with the legislation governing the management of the municipality.
Meanwhile, Mbili has been hailed for his drive to develop RNM.
The deputy chairperson of the South Coast Tourism and Investment Enterprise, Joy Crutchfield, recently commended Mbili for driving the amalgamation of the new local tourism, and investment body, saying that it was done excellently.
RNM Head of Department for Strategic Planning and Governance, Siyabonga Zama, thanked Mbili for recognising their contributions to the municipality, saying that he allowed them to grow in the process.
