Ugu karateka on the up

The sport appears to be going from strength to strength.

A group of up-and-coming development athletes from the Ugu region attended the KSA Development Championships and Women’s Cup held in Port Elizabeth from August 19 to 21.

These champs are aimed at emerging athletes, still with coloured belts, who haven’t yet reached the elite level.

Taylor Selkon, Brigitta Thaumuller and Bjorn Thaumuller.

The competition was held jointly with the KSA Women’s Cup to commemorate the Women’s Month and women in karate.

WKF Ugu Karate was pleased that a number of its members represented Ugu in both the development champs and the Women’s Cup, obtaining a number of medals.

In addition, Dylan and Mikhail Peeriyilal, represented the region as KZN development coaches at the tournament.

Richard Swanepoel.
