Raising funds for animal cancer research
The hamper is worth R900 and it is packed with some of the best goodies such as biltong, biscuits, cheese and more.
The Southern Africa Animal Cancer Association (SAACA) along with Food Lover’s Market will be raising funds that will go for research towards animal cancer which is being done at the University of Pretoria.
The fundraising initiative will be on Saturday, September 24 at Food Lover’s Market at the South Coast Mall.
With Madeleine Pretorius being appointed as SAACA KwaZulu-Natal provincial director, there is a boerie roll sale and raffle competition running at Food Lover’s as part of the initiative.
“Food Lover’s Market took my hand and they said you know what, we are for animals, we love animals, we care for animals so let us do this on Heritage Day. Everybody on Heritage Day does not have to worry about braaiing if the weather is not good, it is sorted. They can just come along and buy a boerie roll for R20 and all those proceeds will be donated by Food Lover’s to SAACA. We also have a raffle which is for a lovely hamper. We call it the rugby hamper because there will also be a rugby match on Saturday. The hamper is worth R900 and it is packed with some of the best goodies such as biltong, biscuits, cheese and more. The hamper is at the shop for people to see and a raffle ticket costs R10,” said Pretorius, adding that Food Lover’s will on Monday pick a lucky number from the people who threw their till slips into a box with their names at the back.
“The lucky person whose names will be drawn out of the box on Monday will win the lucky hamper. I am very excited not only about this but also because I have events coming up for October which is International Cancer Month. Food Lover’s will be hosting a potjie competition. There will also be a doggy walk in St Mikes. I am so eager to bring what I have to the South Coast,” she said.
