Fifteen-year sentence for robber
The 32-year-old suspect was robbed of his cellphone and personal possessions.
After making several court appearances, Sihle Mnyandu was recently sentenced to 15 years of imprisonment for aggravated robbery.
According to Port Shepstone police spokesperson, Captain Petros Mpinge, the 19-year-old was sentenced in the Port Shepstone Magistrate’s Court after a 32-year-old man was threatened with a knife and firearm by two unknown men on the Main Harding Road in February.
Mpinge said the 32-year-old was robbed of his cellphone and personal possessions.
He added that the two suspects fled towards Mkholombe, saying that police who were patrolling nearby responded and apprehended Mnyandu.
“His accomplice managed to escape police. Mnyandu was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment for aggravated robbery. Detective Sergeant Mzwandile Mzindle of Port Shepstone Detective Services was the investigating officer in the case,” said Mpinge.
