Radio station celebrates 11 years on air

The station's management held a birthday celebration for the station which is now based in the Oshabeni area.

Ugu Youth Radio 93.4FM recently celebrated 11 years in the radio industry.

The radio station went on air for the first time in December 2012, broadcasting in Port Shepstone CBD.

The station’s management held a birthday celebration for the station which is now based in the Oshabeni area recently.

The event was attended by several stakeholders including Inkosi Sthembiso Ka Zwengu Lushaba.

Talking about the idea of the radio station, founder of Ugu Youth Radio, Siyabonga Mkhungo said there were many public radio stations in KwaZulu-Natal but few were for young people.

He said the station was to develop the youth in terms of radio, to allow them to train and gain experience.
