Injured duiker from Hibberdene under CROW’s care
CROW is hosting events in July and August to raise much-needed funds.
A severely injured small blue duiker in Hibberdene was recently taken to the Centre for Rehabilitation of Wildlife (CROW) in Yellowwood Park, Durban.
Denika Govender from CROW said that on examination by their dedicated nurses, they discovered injuries to its neck, ear and forehead.
“Medication has been administered, and we suspect the injuries might be from a python attack, though this is still unconfirmed,” she said.
The little duiker is now under the care of compassionate nurse Zoe Dougall.
“Send prayers and positive thoughts for its recovery,” said Govender.
The following events are being hosted by CROW:
* Donate/EFT R67 this Mandela Day on July 18.
CROW needs help to continue their mission to care for 300 to 600 animals on their property at any given time.
Every month, they provide these animals with essential dry feed, which comes in large 25-50 kg bags.
However, their current shed, where this feed is stored, is beyond repair and desperately needs replacement.
Their goal this Mandela Day is to raise funds for a new shed to ensure they can continue to provide for their animals.
In addition to financial contributions, you can also support them by spending your 67 minutes of service planting indigenous trees at CROW.
This is a wonderful opportunity for companies and members of the public to get involved and make a tangible impact on their environment.
* Walk in the Wild at the Kenneth Stainbank Nature Reserve on Sunday, August 25.
Mark your calendars for an unforgettable day in nature, as the nature reserve has a brand-new 5km trail walk designed to connect you with the heart of the wild.
