Precautions need to be taken to avoid heat-related incidents.
As summer fast-approaches and the weather continues to warm up, MotorHappy reminds parents and guardians to never leave children unattended in a vehicle.
Precautions need to be taken to avoid heat-related incidents:
* If you plan to make a quick pop in at a place, never leave a child alone in the vehicle. Time flies, and you may not realise how long you’ve actually been away.
* If possible, use delivery services for shopping when you’re at home – so you don’t have to drive in the heat.
* Always place something you need in the backseat such as an ID for instance. By doing so, this gives you reason to always check the backseat before leaving and locking the vehicle.
* Keep keys away from children to prevent them from locking themselves in or climbing into the vehicle.
* Teach older children to hoot if they find themselves feeling trapped inside.
* Set phone reminders to ensure you don’t forget about your child in the vehicle.
* Keep the radio volume at a reasonable level so you can hear your child if they need your attention.
* Make it a habit to check your car, even if your child isn’t with you.
* Use a mirror attachment to keep your child in sight.
* Spread awareness to friends, family and caregivers to ensure everyone stays vigilant.
