The Boxer Superstores family celebrated the grand opening of its 500th store in Port Shepstone on October 24. Hundreds of excited shoppers gathered at the newly built Port Shepstone Mall, where the event was marked by vibrant festivities, exceptional specials, and dignitaries, including the mayor of the Ray Nkonyeni Municipality, Zodwa Mzindle.
Sihle Thabede, the new Port Shepstone store manager, shared his excitement: “We’re so proud to be serving shoppers at the brand new Port Shepstone Mall, ready to bring the best in quality and value to our community. Today was really remarkable. We had a great turnout, and the vibe was incredible. I cannot describe what it feels like standing in front of hundreds of customers who are singing and cheering before the doors even open; it’s something special.”
Boxer’s 500th store promises the full Boxer experience: fresh and quality products in the butchery, bakery, hot foods section, and fruit and veg department, along with value-added services at the B-Money Kiosk. The new store also welcomed 91 new team members, all dedicated to upholding Boxer’s legacy of world-class service and unbeatable prices.
“We are so grateful to everyone who came out to celebrate with us,” Thabede added, reflecting the enthusiasm shared by both Boxer team members and shoppers alike. Special opening day deals, prizes, rewards and gifts, as well as the Boxer Rewards Club, with exclusive B Rewards, added to the excitement, as Rewards Club ambassadors were on hand to help customers register for extra savings. The 5m-high giant, Boxie, set up outside the food court, proved a popular photo opportunity for shoppers, who posed for pics.
“This landmark 500th store opening is indeed a milestone and a special opening for us as it’s in the same province where it all began for Boxer. But it’s just the beginning of our growth, as we continue to bring more savings to more South Africans across the country,” said Boxer’s Managing Executive, Marek Masojada, who spent the morning chatting with shoppers.
