Commonwealth karate coming up for Ugu athletes
It's an exciting time for the youngsters.
Ugu Karate is delighted that a record number of athletes from the region have been selected to represent the country at the upcoming 11th Commonwealth Karate Championships and Cup.
This will take place in Durban from November 28 to December 1.
The championships are reserved for athletes rated one or two in their respective divisions and will include Ugu karateka Blake Hogan, Tyrese Faro and Ilhaam Amod.
Athletes ranked three and four will compete in the cup component on November 30 and December 1.
In a first for the tournament, an opportunity has also been given to Karate South Africa development athletes.
They have been invited to take part in the cup component, where they will gain valuable experience.
This will include Ugu athletes Miguel Gous, Teighlon Fynn, Tyler Gous, Emir Sahli and Jayden Oosthuizen.
The development karateka are Neriah Peeriyilal, Sarah Sahli, Tristan Appalraju and Drishti Duki.
Shihan Coenie Vrey and Shihan Frank Moodley commended the hardworking group of athletes on this remarkable achievement.
