Detective Sergeant Sthembiso Cele of Saps Paddock has been praised for locking away two murderers.
Mlungisi Phehlukwayo (25) was sentenced recently in the Port Shepstone Magistrate’s Court to 10 years’ imprisonment.
On May 19, 2022, Paddock police responded to a scene in Shobeni area in Paddock where the body of a man was found already in a state of decomposition.
Post-mortem examinations revealed that the man had died of strangulation.
Phehlukwayo was arrested a few weeks later by Paddock detectives at KwaMachi in Harding.
In a separate case, Themba Majola (26) was convicted for the murder of a man (41) in Thafeni area in Paddock.
He was recently sentenced to 12 years’ imprisonment in the Port Shepstone Magistrate’s Court.
Eyewitnesses put Majola at the scene of the crime on June 4, 2023, and an arrest by Paddock police was quickly made.
