Equipment donated to skills centre
Individuals will be trained to manufacture chairs and couches, and taught sewing and other woodwork skills.
Equipment such as sewing and cutting machines were donated to the Nominated Disability Organisation Centre in Nyandezulu last week.
These, along with machines to manufacture chairs and couches, were donated by Ugu District Municipality.
Also, Ugu’s portfolio chairperson for special programmes, Nozipho Caluza, along with Londolo Zungu, handed over gloves, sprays, nails, protective glasses, sponges, and cloths to cover couches.
The centre’s Zambi Ndwalane accepted the donations.
He said individuals will be trained to manufacture chairs and couches and taught sewing and other woodwork skills.
The donation was in line with the commemoration of Disability Rights Awareness Month, which was observed under the theme of celebrating 30 years of democracy, creating a disability-inclusive society for a better quality of life and protection of the rights of persons with disability.
