Co-authors to launch psychological thriller

The book will be launched at SmartXchange Business Centre in Port Shepstone on December 11.

The Curse of Athaliah, a psychological thriller co-authored by locals Shereez Moodley and Shailen Ramsuran, will be launched on Wednesday, December 11.

Set in South Africa, the story follows the Pereira family as they grapple with an ancient curse haunting their ancestral home.

While fictional, the book delves into themes such as trauma, parental control, and psychological disorders – struggles that resonate deeply with real-life experiences. With its vivid characters and chilling twists, it’s an unforgettable journey that captivates readers and viewers alike.

The movie adaptation, which is in pre-production, not only brings this compelling story to life but also serves a greater purpose: providing opportunities for local talent on the South Coast of KZN and showcasing the region’s stunning locations. By combining storytelling with a commitment to community and culture, the production highlights the South Coast as a vibrant creative hub.

Both Moodley and Ramsuran are the co-directors of ASR Xperts Arts Odyssey, a dynamic publishing and media agency incubated at SmartXchange. Together, they’ve brought their diverse skills and shared vision to The Curse of Athaliah.

As co-authors and co-directors, they’re dedicated to creating impactful stories while fostering local talent and uplifting their community.

Limited printed copies will be available at the launch at SmartXchange Business Centre at 54 Mitchell Drive, Port Shepstone, on December 11.
