Man fatally stabbed in KwaNzimakwe

A woman (39) has been arrested in connection with the incident.

Vumani Mbali (40) from KwaNzimakwe was found dead with multiple stab wounds outside his home two days after Christmas.

Provincial police spokesperson Constable Thenjiswa Ngcobo confirmed: “Port Edward police have arrested a 39-year-old woman in connection with murder after an incident in which a 40-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death.”

The suspect’s brother said that he has not spoken to her. “When we arrived at the scene, the police did not want us near her, so I could not talk to her. It is very difficult for us as her family because we have no idea what happened and why.”

He said that his sister has never complained about the relationship, nor had he ever heard anything about them fighting.

Mbali’s brother, Mluleki Mbali, said when he arrived at the scene, he had to identify the lifeless body of his brother and noticed several stab wounds on his body.

“He had big wounds in his shoulders, back, hands, arms and on his thighs.”

Mbali believes that his brother was murdered, so an insurance life policy could be claimed in his name.

He says from the information he received, his brother was killed inside his house, then he was carried outside to make it look like he was murdered by unknown people.

“She (the suspect) was his fiancée because he had paid lobola for her. They had moved to a house that was being sold, and my brother was going to buy it and get married later.”

He said that the couple has one child together, and the suspect has a teenage daughter.
