ANC holds branch cadres forum

The cadres forum held at the ABC community hall was well attended by ANC branch leaders, members and regional ANC leaders from Tolomane Mnyayiza Region, Msizi Sikobi and Mnuz Sizwe Shezi.

Political education and awareness are being upheld by a wounded ANC after dismal results from the previous national and provincial elections.

The ANC Bhobhoyi branch in Ward 23 of Ray Nkonyeni Municipality held its 2024 closing branch cadres forum in December.

The forum delved into the worst performance by the party in the last election. The party reviewed last year’s election, where it lost by dropping 40% votes nationally, which led to it calling on all political parties to form a Government of National Unity (GNU).

The cadres forum held at the ABC community hall was well attended by ANC branch leaders, members and regional ANC leaders from Tolomane Mnyayiza Region, Msizi Sikobi and Mnuz Sizwe Shezi.

The branch chairperson, Thembinkosi Ntuli, welcomed all members who attended the forum, indicating that it was necessary for all members of the ANC to be aware of the political dynamics and way forward towards achieving the national democratic revolution.

“We have come from difficult national and provincial elections, where we lost votes, and this cadres forum will chart a way forward and inform us what is expected of us to recover our lost ground. We welcome all ANC members in this meeting, and we hope that our leaders from the region will educate and inform us with all what we need to know,” said Ntuli.

Sikobi reminded all ANC members that their struggle was started by the ANC alliance of SACP, COSATU and SANCO, which pressurised the apartheid government into negotiations in the 80s, which led to democratic elections in 1994.

“We attained political freedom, but the struggle continues for economic freedom. The last elections were the worst for the ANC. The ANC is in the process of reviewing and making amends where necessary to regain lost ground and move on to unite all people nationally. In April 1994, we all voted for the first time and achieved our political freedom, but were disturbed by the brutal assassination of SACP leader Chris Hani in 1993, but we voted peacefully,” said Sikobi.

Sikobi said the ANC lost elections recently due to various factors, including arrogant and divisive leaders who engage in in-fighting within the ANC and who put their own interests above those of the organisation or society.

“We have opened a social distance or gap with our communities. We need to work with community leaders to rebuild the ANC and grow it from all branches nationally. When we lost the majority vote nationally and could not form a government on our own, we called all parties to join us in forming the GNU because we had no choice but to unite all to participate in the government,” said Sikobi.
