Record turnout for junior tennis trials
The chosen team in each age group will consist of four boys and four girls.
Tennis trials for Ugu U13, U15 and U19 teams were held at Uvongo Tennis Club last Sunday afternoon.
And also at Douglas Mitchell as the number of players exceeded expectations and more courts were suddenly needed.
Teams will be finalised in the near future, and those chosen will represent Ugu at the KZN Inter-districts champs.
Organiser Sharon van der Schyff was delighted with the response.
“We had a record turnout of 22 players; it sure has grown. Last year, we could only enter one team (in the U13s) at the Inter-districts, but this year, it looks like we may, for the first time, have a team in each category.”
Trials were free, and U13s played with green dot balls, while the U15s and U19s played with normal yellow balls.
The chosen team in each age group will consist of four boys and four girls.
The KZN Inter-Districts U13 teams will compete in Pietermaritzburg again this year on March 1 and 2, while the two older age groups will play at Westridge Park in Durban on March 8 and 9.
