ANCYL donates uniforms to needy learners

School uniforms were handed to deserving learners at Sidumile Primary in Boboyi by ANC Youth League (ANCYL) leaders last Friday.

The benefiting learners were identified by the teachers who thanked the ANC for its back-to-school campaign.

ANC leaders and teachers distributed full school uniforms to a number of the chosen learners.

ANCYL Boboyi branch, Ward 23 chairperson Onke Mnyayiza said they identified Sidumile Primary after seeing a need for intervention.

“We heard that learners needed school uniforms. We approached a local businessman, Mesuli Mbotho of ABC Bottle Store, who donated uniforms to us so that we could donate them to needy learners. We want all learners to go back to school. This is our back-to-school programme, and we encourage all learners to learn and be better leaders tomorrow. Among these learners, we need to see future presidents, doctors, teachers and engineers,” said Mnyayiza.

Mbotho said he donated the school uniforms to the ANCYL to support the children at Sidumile Primary. “I wanted to give back to my community because they support my business,” he said.

Tolomane Mnyayiza ANCYL regional task team deputy co-ordinator Vikizitha Ngcobo said they were there to show love to the learners by giving them school uniforms.

“We are here to motivate you to learn and pass your tests and exams. We want all of you to wear your school uniforms and respect your teachers at all times. You are our future leaders,” he said.

The principal, Bheki Ndimande, thanked the ANCYL for their donations and appealed to them to come back with more. “We are extending our school, with NPC constructing a new building that they are donating to us. We request the ANC to donate furniture,” he said.
