Football league aims to develop talent
Gamalakhe Football Association's chairperson Tino Ndwalane said the Makhulukhulu League was going well so far.
It was a tough loss for Mthini Football Club against PJ Stars at the Makhulukhulu Football League at the TB Molefe Stadium in Gamalakhe last Sunday.
The final score was 2-0.
Speaking about the league, Gamalakhe Football Association’s chairperson, Tino Ndwalane, said the league was going well so far.
“We are in the first leg of the tournament. This is the first time an organisation or company is sponsoring us. The current football league is sponsored by Makhulukhulu Protection Services, and we are grateful for that,” said Ndwalane.
He added that they aim to finish the league in May, saying this depends on weather conditions and unforeseen events.
Ndwalane explained that the league was a promotional league to the ongoing Hollywoodbets Regional League.
He said winners of the league stand a chance to be part of the next stage, which are playoffs.
Explaining how they develop talent, Ndwalane said they promote their league by inviting scouts from other big leagues, such as the Motsepe Foundation and Hollywoodbets, to choose talent.
“One of our players, Lindokuhle ‘Cilo’ Lubanyanya, recently signed with the Eastern Cape-based Sinenkani Football Club. He is a former player of the Seven Stars Football Club in the Makhulukhulu Football League,” said Ndwalane.
