Police nab two for robbery
It is alleged that a man (38) was walking on the road in Ward 28 in Gamalakhe when he was robbed of his personal belongings at gunpoint.
Two suspects, aged 19 and 20, were arrested at Tin-Town in Gamalakhe on February 21.
This came after Saps Port Shepstone K9 and Gamalakhe Task Team members followed up on information regarding a robbery which occurred the day before.
It is alleged that a man (38) was walking on the road in Ward 28 in Gamalakhe when he was robbed of his personal belongings at gunpoint.
Information led police to an identified residence where the suspects were arrested and a 9mm pistol and ammunition were recovered.
They face charges of possession of unlicensed ammunition and a firearm, and armed robbery.
The two will appear in court shortly.
Police in Ugu District continue to make arrests and recoveries with regard to illegal firearms. They also rely on information from the public to help rid local communities of these firearms used to commit crimes, especially those linked to gender-based violence.
