It was all systems go for XJ Athletic Club as they recently ran 30km from Emaxesibeni to Ntabankulu (town to town).
The runners came in droves as they prepare for a 42km race in East London and the Capital City Marathon in Pietermaritzburg on the 2nd.
Some of the runners are busy chasing qualifying times for the Comrades Marathon on June 8, while others have already qualified but are busy training for it.
The practice run also catered for 21km and 10km runners.
Also, seconding vehicles provided water and light meals to struggling runners.
The practice ended on a high note as a cake was cut to celebrate Valentine’s Day and those who were celebrating their birthdays on the day.
“XJ Runners ‘Pink Drive’ – we believe in spreading love among each other, as we know that we come from different spheres of life. We also believe that this is our second home, and we must always enjoy and share the little we have,” said the club’s PRO, Mbotshwa Bonginkosi.
Health fanatics are urged to join the club. Visit their Facebook page: XJ Athletics Club for the form.
