Top nine for pageant entrant

Alyssa matriculated from Port Shepstone High in 2008.

Alyssa Barberis, formerly of Oslo Beach, has made it into the top nine of the Mrs Universe South Africa pageant.

The grand finale will take place at the Indaba Hotel in Sandton on March 22.

The top three will represent South Africa in various global competitions; however, the queen will take part in the Mrs Universe 2025.

Alyssa matriculated from Port Shepstone High in 2008 and studied acting and television at Wits University.

She has featured in several local movies, as well as the series Jika Majika and Ekse Let’s Talk with Masechaba Lekalake.

“I eventually made the move into teaching like several family members before me. My mum, Dalryce Stockers, still teaches at Merlewood Primary. I now teach Grade 3 in Johannesburg, and my learners are excited that I’m doing so well in this competition.”

She added that this is her first pageant ever.

Alyssa plans to continue with motivational talks for young girls and women’s empowerment events in Johannesburg and Port Shepstone after the competition.
