Burning calories for children in need
The event was a great success after being supported by community and gym members.
Superbodies Margate raised R5 050 for Give a Child a Family Africa (GCF) at a spinathon and aerobathon last Saturday.
The gym’s Dominique Read said the idea for the fundraiser came from their passion for making a real difference in the lives of vulnerable children.
She said they believe that children deserve the love and stability of a family.

“When we learnt about the incredible work done by GCF to keep children out of institutions and in safe, caring homes, we knew we wanted to support their mission. Hosting this event was our way of giving back and encouraging the community to come together for a cause that truly matters,” she said. Read added that the event was a success, with the community and gym members going above and beyond to support the worthy cause.

She said they want to encourage people to get fit and healthy while supporting these initiatives.
“The community needs to stand together,” she said. Meanwhile, Mareli Schwartz (marketing and fundraising at GCF) said the fundraiser meant hope, stability, and a future for vulnerable children.
She said the funds raised will help support families, ensure children grow up in safe and loving homes, and strengthen prevention and early intervention programmes to reach families before a crisis.

“A heartfelt thanks to Superbodies Margate for organising this event and bringing the community together for such a great cause. Your generosity helps us continue making a difference in the lives of children and families. To create lasting change, we encourage people to become monthly donors. Ongoing support allows us to protect children and strengthen families because child protection is everyone’s business,” she said.
