Oscar Piastri grabbed a well-deserved win in Shanghai to win the Chinese Grand Prix last Sunday.
He drove a fantastic race, never putting a foot wrong, to make up for his bad luck in his home race in Melbourne the week before.
Piastri came home almost 10 seconds ahead of Lando Norris in the second McLaren.
George Russell also drove an excellent race, finishing only a second behind Norris.
The Mercedes are back with a vengeance, and Russell’s teammate Kimi Antonelli finished in a solid sixth place.
Although Max Verstappen drove hard, he could do no better than fourth position, seven seconds behind Russell.
Esteban Ocon was next in fifth place in his Alpine, with Alex Albon flying the flag for Williams in seventh spot.
The second Williams, driven by Carlos Sainz, finished in the points in tenth position, despite some challenges.
Williams also appears to be coming back strongly.
Oliver Bearman, like Antonelli in that both are rookies, did well to secure eighth place, while Lance Stroll also earned points for his ninth place.
The race was a great disappointment for Ferrari, with both Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc disqualified for ‘too low’ and ‘too light’ infringements.
Pierre Gasly, in the second Alpine, was also disqualified for being underweight.
Overall, it was a great race, with tyre wear the biggest challenge.
This was caused by the track having had a brand new surface, which makes it coarse and abrasive, giving the tyres a hard time and lack of grip due to overheating.
Max Verstappen made it exciting with his charge towards the end.
We can now look forward to the next race in Japan at the technical Suzuka circuit.
