it’s all systems go for ultimate human race

The commitment shown by all the runners was applaudable.

Kokstad’s community of runners from the #4AM Club hosted their last long run last Sunday before the Comrades Marathon on June 8.

The 50km run was also graced by the presence of local clubs, XJAC from Emaxesibeni and RunR56 from Matatiele.

It was attended by more than 40 runners, and 90% of the route was gravel, which is excellent for long distance runners.

Dr Pholani Majola, the #4AM Club’s secretary, said they can’t wait for the big day as preparations started late last year.

He applauded the commitment that was displayed by all runners.

“I am impressed by what I saw today, you are more than ready to go there and enjoy yourselves fellow runners.”

He also thanked local businessman Oussein Thiam who prepared a scrumptious meal for the runners after their gruelling and excruciating long run.

Majola concluded by warning runners to take it easy to avoid unnecessary injuries before the big day.
