Red letter day for pastor
Dr Johnson Khan ministered at various churches in the surrounding areas of Port Shepstone, as well as in Eastwood and Northdale in Pietermaritzburg, Chatsworth and more.
Pastors, community members, friends and family of Dr Johnson Khan gathered at the Mount Moriah Full Gospel Church to witness his conferral ceremony in Marburg last Saturday.
The celebration also formed part of Khan’s 77th birthday party.
He was born and raised in Umkomaas. He moved to Durban after he finished school and worked there for quite a while, before relocating to Port Shepstone in 1965.
In 1970, he rededicated his life to God, studying at the South African Evangelistic Mission Bible School.
He graduated in December 1971 and started his ministry at the end of 1972 as a lay preacher.
He was ordained as a credentialed pastor in 1984.
He served at the South African Evangelistic Mission Bible School until 1996.
He ministered at various churches in the surrounding areas of Port Shepstone, as well as in Eastwood and Northdale in Pietermaritzburg, Unit 3 in Chatsworth, three churches in Isipingo, Harding, Kokstad, Umzinto, Esperanza and Hluthankungu in Highflats.
From 1996 to 1998, he served alongside Pastor Toffee Ramdhin at Christ Alight Tabernacle in Port Shepstone.
In February 1998, he established El Shaddai Fellowship in Marburg.
