Organisers of the Inkundla Theatre Festival recently recognised award-winning storyteller, Colleca Madulini, for the work she has done for the arts community.
Presenting Madulini with the Community Representative Excellence Award, Inkundla project manager Siya Sotsu, said they recognise her for her passion for the arts and unwavering commitment to authentic storytelling.
Hailing from Gcilima, Madulini was the director of the television series, The River and Gqeberha: The Empire on Mzanis Magic.
Sotsu said that through Madulini’s dedication to her work, she continues to inspire upcoming artists.
He said the script supervisor boasted a blend of artistic passion and technical expertise.
Meanwhile, Madulini said that being acknowledged in her hometown by the people and leaders she represents is one of the most meaningful milestones on her journey.
She said the recognition was not just hers but for everyone who has supported her, collaborated with her, believed in her vision, and walked the path with her.
“Thanks to Ray Nkonyeni Municipality, the founders of Inkundla Theatre Festival, and the staff at the Margate Art Museum for this honour. I receive it with a heart full of appreciation and a renewed sense of purpose. This moment reminds me that the work we do, even when it feels unseen, is never in vain. To my family, my team, my mentors, and my community, thank you for being my pillars. I will continue striving to uplift, inspire, and create a lasting impact. The journey continues, and the fire burns brighter,” she said.
