Water pipeline repairs under way
Ugu District Municipality teams were on site yesterday (Wednesday) to begin critical repairs after the shutdown.
The Ugu District Municipality has provided an update on the ongoing water shutdown and repair work in the Port Shepstone area, which began on Tuesday this week.
Repairs to the pipeline at Batstone’s bridge were successfully completed on Wednesday, and water supply has been reopened to refill North Shepstone, which is currently experiencing low water levels. Reservoirs in the area are expected to recover to healthy levels by this evening.
Water supply is also expected to be fully restored to Tweni, Sea Park, and parts of Southport by Wednesday evening.
Ugu spokesperson, France Zama said the repair teams are now shifting their focus to a second break in Melville.
The municipality thanked the community for their ongoing patience and for supporting the No-Drop and War on Leaks initiative.
Further updates will be provided as progress continues.
