New sports kits bring joy
Non-profit, I am a Patriot's mission is to revive school sports and empower the youth.
In the spirit of Youth Day, Mavundla Primary in Gamalakhe received new soccer and netball kits from I’m a Patriot, a registered non-profit.
The organisation launched its ‘Bring Sports Back to Schools’ initiative with the special sports kit handover event last Friday.
Its mission is to revive school sports and empower youth, particularly in underprivileged communities and schools, where resources are limited.
Communications officer Patricia Ndlovu said the smiles on the children’s faces were priceless. “This clearly shows the power of small acts which can make a big impact. Their excitement filled the air with energy and hope, as they eagerly embraced the opportunity to play, grow, and dream.”
The event also included an educational session where learners were taught the values of patriotism and what it truly means to be a patriot in South Africa.
“This day marks the beginning of a journey to restore the importance of sport in our schools. We believe sport plays a vital role in teaching discipline, teamwork, and pride in one’s community. This is just the first of many projects aimed at building a proud, active, and inspired generation of South Africans, especially in communities that need it the most,” said Ntando Denny, a representative from I’m a Patriot.
