Pool tournament brings youth together in Port Shepstone
The event was organised and sponsored by the South African Society of Bank Officials.
Kaiden Singh won the boys’ division and Jady Rammouthar the girls’ section at QBIT Pool Academy’s sponsored Youth Day event at Spillers Wharf recently.
The event was free to enter, and focused on bringing the youth together to enjoy the game of pool.
The event was organised and sponsored by the South African Society of Bank Officials (SASBO).
Regional secretary, Anesh Ramchuran said the union was founded in 1916 and is still working with the community.
“We have a membership of almost 67 000 members and have branches around South Africa. Our South Coast branch is one of eight such committees in KwaZulu-Natal and our mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of our members. As part of our SASBO Cares Initiative, we believe in uplifting communities, especially the youth.”
Pragasen Kisten, the chairperson of Sasbo South Coast, said it was an honour to host the competition.
“The majority of the youth who attended had not played pool before, including the winner of the girls’ tournament. We received a request to host this event annually and we will certainly look into it.”
Ivan Naidoo from QBIT congratulated the team for organising the event which was well supported, but more importantly got the youth to take up pool as a sport.
