Champion of Champions spot for top caddy

The Umkomaas golfer can't wait for the tournament to arrive.

Patrick Ndlovu has earned himself a place in the prestigious KZN Champion of Champions at Kloof CC later this year.

He did this by winning the South Coast qualifier at Southbroom Golf Club recently.

The tournament was organised by the South Coast Region Ladies Golf Association and GolfRSA.

“It was heart-warming to see our golfing community come together to make this event a huge success,” said convener Sandi Burger, president of SCRLGA.

“We look forward to more players joining next year.”

It has grown and, now in its fourth year, saw a record turnout of 58 teeing it up at Southbroom, who gave up the course free of charge for the event.

The South Coast clubs were thanked for registering their caddies on Handicaps Network Africa (HNA), with 44 of the 58 playing with official handicaps. This meant the nett prize pool could be increased.

Patrick hails from Umkomaas Golf Club and played off a handicap index of 4.6.

Making the most of the perfect weather, he eased his way around to score one over par 73.

There are five regional qualifying tournaments, with the winners going through to the Champion of Champions tournament held at Kloof in September.

Travel, accommodation and food costs will be covered by GolfRSA.

Should Patrick emerge victorious against the caddies from the other four regions, he will head to the national finals in October.
