Women’s league inspires at book launch
The event was a call to women of all generations to come together in a space of healing, strength and celebration.
Authors Are Artists (AAA) Women’s League hosted its first annual Healing Books Conference 2025 at Margate Hotel last Saturday.
Under the theme inspired by Luke 13:12 – “Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity”, this landmark event was set to heal, empower, inspire, and uplift women, and fight GBV together through a transformative day of presentations and sharing stories.
An interesting drama performance was staged by local artists which portrayed an abusive stepfather to a young girl who then killed both the mother and daughter.
This was performed to show that such incidents are happening in communities daily.
National Women’s League leader of AAA, Sibongile MaDlamini Mdibi, said that nine women across the province contributed to the healing book and attended the launch.
“This event was a call to women of all generations, races, mothers, daughters, sisters and grandmothers to come together in a space of healing, strength and celebration.”
Mdibi added that contributors will sell the book to earn an income as some are unemployed and were in abusive relationships.
The event was supported by a number of organisations.
