Call for theatre lovers
The auditions are open to everyone with a passion for the arts.
Madulini Pictures is calling on dancers and musicians to audition for the Behind Her Mic musical production at the Margate Art Museum this Saturday, September 20, from 08:00.
For the music auditions, participants are required to prepare either Tina Turner’s Proud Mary, Letha Mbuli’s Not Yet Uhuru, or Cynthia Erivo’s Stand Up.
For the dance auditions, Colleca Madulini said choreography will be provided on the day, allowing dancers to demonstrate their energy, stage presence and adaptability.
Madulini explained that the idea of the auditions came through her vision to tell powerful South African stories on stage, especially those that affect artists.
“Behind Her Mic is an original musical production that celebrates resilience, passion and the power of music in shaping lives. The auditions are being hosted to discover raw local talent singers, dancers and performers who will bring this musical to life for audiences in 2026,” she said.
The theatre lovers will get to see the Behind Her Mic production at the Wild Coast in February 2026.
Madulini said the auditions are open to everyone with a passion for the arts.
“Whether you are a singer, dancer, or actor, this is an opportunity for people of different ages and backgrounds to showcase their skills. We are particularly looking for performers who can deliver strong stage presence, energy and emotional connection,” she said.
Madulini is a film and theatre director, screenwriter and founder of Madulini Pictures.
She said after auditions, selected performers will move into the call-back phase, where they will work more closely with the creative team.
“From there, successful candidates will be part of an intensive rehearsal process leading up to the staging of Behind Her Mic. This journey will also include training, skill development, and professional exposure,” said Madulini.
