Top marks for Gamalakhe nurse
Disane's achievement was announced at a graduation ceremony hosted by KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Health, Nomagugu Simelane-Mngadi, at the Royal Showgrounds in Pietermaritzburg.
A Gamalakhe Community Health Centre (GCHC) nurse, Bukeka Disane, obtained the highest marks in the Advanced Diploma in Midwifery recently.
Disane’s achievement was announced at a graduation ceremony hosted by KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Health, Nomagugu Simelane-Mngadi, at the Royal Showgrounds in Pietermaritzburg.
Reacting on her achievement, Disane expressed gratitude for the study opportunity afforded to her. She thanked GCHC management for having confidence in her and the chance to study.
She said: “This learning experience has been invaluable in expanding my knowledge and skills, and I am eager to apply what I’ve learnt to contribute even more effectively to our team’s success. Thank you once again for investing in my growth and for your continued support. I look forward to demonstrating the positive impact of this opportunity in my work while treating patients in the Gamalakhe community and surrounding areas.”
Simelane-Mngadi highlighted that 430 nurses completed their training, including 170 in the R171 Diploma in Nursing and 259 in the Advanced Diploma in Midwifery. The event also acknowledged the advancement of 33 Enrolled Nurses to Professional Nurse status, with 12 achieving this through the Recognition of Prior Learning pathway.
