Volunteers brave winds for coastal clean up

Coastal clean up sees 10 bags collected.

Port Edward’s Umtamvuna Marine Conservancy (UMC) stepped up for International Coastal Clean up Day.

Despite winds of up to 42km per hour, a dedicated team of 14 volunteers braved the outdoors to gather litter from Silver Beach. Amazingly, a total of 10 large bags were filled with litter that hadn’t yet blown away.

The team then enjoyed coffee on the house at Port Edward’s popular steakhouse The Wreck while Migamed Pharmacy kindly provided rubber gloves. UMC extends its thanks to both.
