ANC prepares for regional elective conference
Regional co-ordinator Nkazimulo Mavundla said organisational renewal was a critical task of ANC renewal, which remains at the heart of the organisation's efforts to strengthen itself as a movement of the people.
The ANC Tolomane Mnyayiza regional leaders met at their office in Port Shepstone CBD recently, to review the ANC’s readiness for the regional elective conference in November, where branches will officially install new leaders to take its organisational renewal project forward.
This ordinary Regional Task Team (RTT) leaders’ meeting served as an important platform to reflect on the overall organisational state of the ANC in the region and to assess the work being done by their deployees in government. The gathering further evaluated the ANC’s progress in advancing the mandate entrusted to them by their communities as a leader of local municipalities.
Regional co-ordinator Nkazimulo Mavundla said organisational renewal was a critical task of ANC renewal, which remains at the heart of the organisation’s efforts to strengthen itself as a movement of the people.
“We received and processed reports on the appointment of branch task teams across the region. This is an essential step in reviving and revitalising the most basic units of our movement, the branches, and ensuring that they remain the vibrant engines of democracy, activism and people’s participation in the life of the ANC,” he added.
Mavundla said the RTT reaffirmed its commitment to the renewal programme as directed by the provincial task team. “The meeting adopted a comprehensive road map leading towards the successful hosting of the regional elective conference from November 21-23. This road map provides guidance for the convening of branch general meetings, as well as the completion of other constitutional requirements necessary to build unity, discipline and cohesion within our structures.”
He added that the ANC is determined to ensure that the conference is peaceful, credible and reflective of the true will of their membership, thus cementing the ANC’s position as the trusted leader of society.
