Students learn about tax compliance

Students engaged with SARS's educational initiatives gain practical and civic knowledge.

The South African Revenue Service education team conducted an informative workshop on tax morality at Esayidi TVET College, Gamalakhe Campus recently.

Students engaged with financial management lecturers, and SARS service consultants Nivesh Laljith and Linda Baker from the Tax Base Broadening and Taxpayer Education Unit.

The interactive session introduced students to the fundamentals of personal income tax, including how to register as taxpayers, file returns using SARS digital platforms, and understand their tax obligations. The workshop aimed to promote a culture of voluntary compliance among South Africans.

Laljith also provided insights into career opportunities at SARS.

Suven Moodley, Head of the Business Studies Department, welcomed the initiative and commended the collaboration with SARS, emphasising its importance in preparing students for the workplace and enhancing their professional development.
