Awards nomination for passionate musician

The awards will be honour artists across various categories: Devotional, Bollywood, Chutney and Nagara music.

Marburg’s Sudesh Madanlall (43) was recently nominated for a Megazone Bollywood South African Local Music Awards 2025.

He was nominated in two categories – Chutney and Devotional music – highlighting his long-standing contribution to South African Indian music and his growing influence in the entertainment industry.

Madanlall began his musical journey at the age of 12, performing with close friends who shared his love for music.

His inspiration is Kishore Sewlall and his friends Ajay Ramrathie and Rickesh Ramrathie. In 2001, he co-founded the Sheppie Nagara Group, which has been performing at community events for over two decades, bringing joy and culture to audiences on the South Coast and around KZN.

This year, he started sharing his music on TikTok, and his unique sound quickly gained attention. His talent was soon recognized by Zahra Maharaj, a popular DJ at 104.8 FM Megazone Bollywood, which led to his nomination.

“Being recognised at this level is truly an honour. Music has been a lifelong passion for me, and I am grateful to my family, friends and the Port Shepstone community for their continued support on this journey,” said Madanlall.

He continues to explore and perform across multiple genres, including Devotional, Chutney and Bollywood, inspiring both new and seasoned music lovers alike.
