NPC spokesperson Smangele Tshabalala said the company is committed to community and local economic development through the South Coast youth construction skills programme, a key initiative under the company’s Margate Quarry Social and Labour Plan (SLP).

“The programme is designed to equip unemployed young people with practical construction skills. It is part of our broader mission to support local economic development and job creation by offering training in the construction trades to create pathways for youth to gain employment and contribute to sustainable growth within their communities.”

Tshabalala added the success of this programme reflects a long-standing dedication to empowering local talent and strengthening the South Coast community through education and opportunities

“Due to the unemployment challenges we face in our communities, there is a need to upskill our youth for better chances of finding employment or creating opportunities for their self-employment.”
