Beekman Classic win at Port Shepstone Country Club just what doctor ordered

An impressive amount of R292 000 was raised for improvements to the club, plus a much-needed club bakkie.

The two-day Beekman Classic at Port Shepstone Country Club proved to be an overwhelming success last weekend, with the tournament providing a memorable experience for players, spectators and sponsors.

The atmosphere was electric, fostering a spirit of healthy competition and camaraderie among the field of 116 players.

Winners on a score of 183 points, were Dr Ayoob Bux, Ganes Munsami, Sbu Ntozakhe and Morris Moodley.

The tournament raised an impressive amount of R292 000 for Port Shepstone Country Club, which will be utilised for improvements to the club, plus a much-needed club bakkie.

The Beekman Group has gone above and beyond to ensure the success of the club for many years now and the club is grateful for all the efforts of John Beekman and his wonderful team.

Runners-up on 181 points were Sachin Kalkapersad, Shiven Chetty, Maggie Cockroft and Marietta Badenhorst, counting out Kiara Naicker, Kreeson Naicker, Sashen Govender and Darshan Pather.

In fourth place on 177 points were Cecelia Verster, Jennifer Duncan, Yzelle Greyling and Kim Strauss.

Fifth spot on 176 points went to John Beekman, Jesse Vester, Eddie Ringo and Doug Travarthan, one ahead of Preggie Perumal, Pravesh Govender, Wesley Scholtz and Vernon Albrecht.

In seventh place on 173 points were Willem Lindeque, Rudger Potgieter, Marchand van Vuuren and Colin Whateley.

Eighth place on 170 points went to Jeevan Mahadev, Preggy Kandasamy, Jimmy Adamson and Sydney Shingange.

In ninth on 168 points were Charles Hulley, Jenny Hulley, Mark Creane and Annie Creane, with Howard Crouch, Francois du Toit, Brett Wheatcroft and Connor Wheatcroft rounding out the top 10 on 167 points.

Longest Day – Vincent Hoser, André Houg, Bernard Theron and Tim Pearson 129 points.

Best gross Saturday – Jesse Verster 72. Best gross Sunday – Willem Lindeque 65.

In other club news, the Monthly Mug last Wednesday was won by Ian Stewart on nett 64.

Division winners were Gavin van Wyk (A – nett 73), Rudi Steyn (B – nett 70), Basil King (C – nett 73).

Best gross was carded by Cameron Olivant, 71. Jenny Hulley won the ladies’ medal on nett 77.
