Firearm bust in Magog area, inland of Sea Park
The case has been postponed to a later date for further investigation.
A 9mm pistol and five live rounds of ammunition were recovered by police in Magog area in Madlala.
This came after an intelligence driven operation was conducted during the early hours of last Tuesday by members of the Saps Crime Intelligence Unit and Tactical Response Team.
Information was received and a search was conducted at a residence in Magog area, Madlala.
A 38-year-old man was arrested and appeared in the Port Shepstone Magistrate’s Court.
The case has been postponed to a later date for further investigation. The suspect remains in custody.
The firearm will be subjected to ballistic tests to determine if it was used in any other crime.
The public is urged to contact their nearest police station, CPF chairperson or sector commander to report criminal activities and illegal firearms.
Removing these firearms from the hands of criminals helps to prevent the perpetration of serious and violent crime.
