New wheelchair for immobile KwaNositha woman

Thabisile Sikobi can now move around in her house and yard.

A funeral service company donated a wheelchair to Thabisile Sikobi of KwaNositha who broke both her legs recently.

“On September 22, I slipped and broke both legs. I removed the plaster on November 13, but till today I cannot walk on my own,” she said.

As she was unable to use crutches, she was in bed most of the time. Also, she needed help to use the bathroom, and what made things harder is that the family has no inside bathroom.

Falakhe Funeral Services came to her rescue and donated the wheelchair to make her life a little bit easier. Now, Thabisile can move around her house and yard on her new wheels.

A community leader, Xolani ‘Scefesimnandi’ Mbhamali said they were made aware of Sikobi’s situation by her daughter, who posted her plight on their Facebook page.

He said as a local political champion representing the African Transformation Movement, he went all out to get help for her and met with the funeral company which agreed to help with the much-needed wheelchair.
“After meeting with the Sikobi family I promised to seek help for her because I do not have money to buy a wheelchair, but I have influence.”

Thabisile said the wheelchair has helped her a lot as she can now wheel herself outside and get some fresh air.
Falakhe Funeral Services CEO, Zah Chiliza, said it was not the first time she has helped someone, but helping Thabisile was special as they grew up together.

“I must say helping her was like helping my own sister as we did a lot of things growing up together, even fetching water from the river. Even in our younger days, we never had squabbles,” she said.
