Garden enthusiasts and conservation supporters are invited to the Botanical Society of South Africa (BotSoc), KZN Coastal Branch’s annual plant fair at the Durban Botanic Gardens.

The weekend event will be held on Saturday, September 5 and Sunday, September 6, from 09:00 to 16:00 daily.

Now recognised as Durban’s longest-running plant fair, the event will showcase a wide range of South African indigenous plants from local nurseries at competitive prices.

This year’s theme, ‘Know, grow, protect and enjoy South Africa’s indigenous plants’, highlights the importance of indigenous gardening and biodiversity conservation.

Proceeds from nursery sales will support BotSoc’s conservation projects across KZN.

Visitors can also attend a series of free gardening and conservation talks at the Visitors’ Centre Hall.

On Saturday, Lindsay Gray will present Basic Principles of Garden Design at 10:00, followed by Dr Elsa Pooley and Jane Troughton at 12:00 with The Well-Loved Garden: Pruning, Propagating and Renewal.

On Sunday, Jenny Dean will present Creating a Garden for Wildlife at 10:00, while Muhammad Adamjee will share the story behind South Africa’s Chelsea Flower Show’s 2026 gold medal-winning exhibit in his talk, Life After Fire.

Entry and secure parking are free, making it an ideal spring outing for gardeners of all experience levels.
