Induna warns public about alcoholism
He urged the youth to remain focused on their future.
KwaNdwalane Traditional Council Authority Chief Induna Sibunge Mazubane appeals to the public to behave and to take care of themselves and their families during the festive season.
Mazubane spoke on behalf of Inkosi Sazi Ndwalane of Nsimbini Traditional Council Authority at a gathering of community members and municipal authorities at Ray Nkonyeni Municipality’s imbizo at KwaMaveshe Community Hall recently.
The imbizo aimed to engage the community with municipal leadership on issues of service delivery to be included in the municipal Integrated Development Plan
Mazubane said Inkosi Ndwalane is concerned about young mothers who lock their children in their homes and then go out to drink alcohol during Christmas or new year celebrations.
“One mother left her children locked up and went out partying with her friends. One child was shocked by a stove and died as a result. The Inkosi Ndwalane Traditional Council Authority condemns this behaviour. Christmas parties must not mean the death of our people due to indulging in alcohol. Our youth must refrain from alcohol and focus on their goals and new year resolutions,” said Mazubane
He urged the youth to remain focused on their future. “We wish you all the best for your new academic year. Stay away from alcohol, arrive alive in 2026, with your resolutions in mind and pursue them with vigour. You are the future of our nation, education is the key to success. We wish every one a happy and prosperous new year,” said Mazubane.
