If you are on holiday, come parkrun at St Mike’s Beach

Behind the scenes, the parkrun is powered by a core group of about 20 volunteers who give up their Saturday mornings every week, come rain or shine, to ensure the event runs smoothly and safely.

The Uvongo parkrun takes place every Saturday at 08:00, starting from C-Bali Restaurant at St Mike’s Beach.

The free, timed 5km run or walk is open to all ages and abilities.

This popular weekly event recently reached an important milestone, now starting and finishing at a Blue Flag beach – thanks to the hard work and dedication of the Tidy Towns Shelly Beach to Margate team.

Organisers have also expressed sincere thanks to Round Table Margate 46 for their continued support, which has played an important role in ensuring the event’s ongoing success. The scenic track has been carefully maintained thanks to the tireless efforts of volunteers from Uvongo parkrun, Ivungu River Conservancy, Margate Round Table, and Tidy Towns.

Those wishing to take part can register at www.parkrun.co.za to receive a unique barcode, which is required to participate.
