Gamalakhe, Mustangs cause cricket upsets

There was some exciting cricket played on a hot, windy Sunday.

Six games across three divisions in the Southern KZN 30 Over Cup were played last Sunday, with some stunning upsets and superb cricket produced.

In Division 3, Gamalakhe Warriors held their nerve to beat the Challengers XI by one wicket at a grassy Borough Ground field.

Gamalakhe Warriors, with coach Ben Malamba, and some of the junior supporters.

These are players who have come through the development programme in the rural area run by Ben Malamba.
“They have clearly been doing the homework I have given them,” said Ben. “They really played out of their skins.”
In the same division, Mustangs then beat T20 champions Vikings B in a low-scoring thriller.

There was only one game in Division 1, a high-scoring extravaganza which saw Vikings A edge out ICC XI by a mere five runs.
