Former learners give back to their schools in Mtwalume

The donation was a reminder about their educational journeys.

It was all about giving back for a group of former learners from Mtwalume who donated school shoes, reams of paper and other much-needed items to those in need at Dingimbiza, Wilder, Zijubezulu and Rossetinville primary schools in the area.

At the handover on January 16, the chairperson of the group (Ekasi 4×4), Muzi Mkhwanazi, said the donation was a reminder about their educational journeys at the same schools.

“This initiative is dedicated to uplifting learners by providing school shoes, ensuring children can attend school with dignity and confidence. It is a story of hope, collaboration, and the importance of supporting education and empowering the next generation.”

Mkhwanazi said that every year social drives are held, either via donations or giving back to the community.
“Ultimately as a group, we like to invite busines

s people to join us in this initiative. As our name suggests, Ekasi 4×4, we wish to grow in townships and areas such as Mtwalume, so we can hand out more in all areas in the country.”

Wilder Primary’s acting principal Nondumiso Memela was thankful for the donation.

“It feels like our prayers have been answered because my school has many unprivileged children, and this donation is exactly what we needed.”

Principal of Zijubezulu Primary Ntombizethu Malinga said it was the best surprise in the 30 years she has worked at the school.

Malinga added that some of the members of the group are her former learners and she is proud that they remembered their former school.

“We have started the year on a wonderful note, and we are thankful.”
