Par 3 competition raises funds for South Coast Hospice
There has been some festive fun at the club.
The Wozani Berg Gasoline Par 3 Challenge, played as a betterball scramble, was a whole lot of fun, as always, with more than 50 players teeing it up at Port Shepstone Country Club last Sunday.
Around R1000 was raised for South Coast Hospice in the process.
Winners were Sashen Govender and Kreeson Naicker on 46 points, with Rudi and Ilse Steyn second on 44 points.
In third place were Francois and Zante du Toit on 41 points, counting out Zaiden de Heer and James de Villiers, with Tony Fairbairn and Allan Clark in fifth spot.
Nearest the pins were Rudi Coetzee (2nd), Rudi Coetzee (9th), Boyd Janssen (16th), Eddie Ringo (13th), Francois du Toit (18th).
Brennan Raymond very nearly aced the 10th hole.
The MakMoer business day competition last Friday was won on an astonishing score of 104 points.
While Friday 13th is deemed unlucky for some, it wasn’t for Phillip Qayi, Michael Zuka, Monde Nondabula and Loyiso Manyana as they cruised home by 12 points.
Runners-up were Nelson Govender, Laurence Roberts, Org Niewoud and Don Richards on 92 points, counting out Colin Nel, Cameron Olivant, Jimmy Adamson and Smittie Stieger.
In fourth place on 88 points were Sashen Govender, Kreeson Naicker, Sanjay Singh and Ganes Munsami, with fifth spot going to Sheldon van der Merwe, Guy Osborne, Greg Small and Craig Lindsay on 86 points.
Nearest the pins were Carl Zietsman (5th), Sashen Govender (8th), Chris Boyce (14th) and Jimmy Adamson (17th).
Nearest for two on 18th was Brett Wheatcroft.
Johann Janse van Rensburg won the overall Mug of Mugs trophy for 2025 last Wednesday.
This is competed for by all the monthly mug winners during the year. It was sponsored by Vic’s Enterprises and Victor’s Curry Room.
Meanwhile, the February mug competition was won by Morris Moodley on nett 68.
The individual Stableford was won by Charles Hulley on 32 points.
Division winners were Colin Nel (A – nett 72), Theo van Rooyen (B – nett 76) and Fanie Terblanche (C – nett 73).
Chris Massey had the best gross of 75.
In the ladies’ section, the Jeanette Wahl trophy winner was Annie Creane on nett 71.
The PSI Brokers Valentine’s Day golf day last Saturday was rained out. However, some hardy souls battled it out with Cameron Olivant and Gavin van Wyk scoring 42 points, counting out Mark Smith and Chris Boyce.
