School grateful for generous donation

Principal Mxolisi Nguza was grateful for the generosity.

A partnership between Boxer Superstores, Boxer Ubuntu Projects and Mbali The Village from Ezingoleni outside Port Shepstone saw a generous donation made to Mthini Primary School in Ward 32 in Ray Nkonyeni Municipality, under local councillor Ntombifuthi Danca.

The handover from the store’s Durban and Ezinqoleni branches took place recently.

A manager, Busi Makhanya, said the donation comprised a water tank, school uniforms, shoes, gardening tools, sanitary towels, pens, mini solar lights and food parcels.

“Boxer Superstores cares for the community who buy from our stores. We love our children from Mthini Primary as their parents buy from our stores, so we are giving back and we say thank you. We donated to this school because we love you and we care for you.”

Mbali The Village’s director, Bongi Nzama, said the non-profit operates in Ezinqoleni and assists learners with breakfast.

“I don’t want our children to go to school on empty stomachs. We got assistance from Boxer to help one of our beneficiary schools, Mthini Primary. They handed over various items.”

Principal Mxolisi Nguza welcomed the donation and thanked Boxer Superstores for its generosity and for giving back to the school and the community. “We appreciate your contributions to our school. May God bless you. Thank you so much, these donations will assist us a lot.”

The Department of Education’s inspector, Bongani Mpisane, extended his gratitude to the store. He also emphasised that learners must be able to read and write. “It’s a disgrace to see our learners up to Grade 12 not able to read and write, we have a literacy programme to change that. But we do have financial challenges in the department,” said Mpisane.
